fireprotection

Life safety and property protection are the main goals of a Fire Protection system. Many factors will influence the type of system designed for a particular project including type of occupancy, building construction and budget. FMRW will perform the required code research and work closely with the owner and local authority having jurisdiction to design and specify the most efficient and economical fire protection and suppression systems to suit the project. When required, we will utilize a Fire Protection specialist firm to assist in special hazard suppression system design as well as hydraulic calculations.

FMRW has designed new standpipe and sprinkler systems as well as retrofit systems for many different types of clientele. These include Healthcare and Hospitals, Educational facilities and Dormitories, Commercial Offices, Public Buildings and Airports. Recently, FMRW was involved in the design of one of the first high pressure water mist systems in the United States. This system uses positive displacement pumps and fog-like water mist to suppress the fire (Dulles International Airport, APM System Tunnels).

Our design services include, but are not limited to, the following:

Standpipe systems: Water supply, piping distribution, Fire Department connections and valves

Wet Sprinkler systems: Sprinkler layout, piping, drains, indicating valves with tamper switches and flow indicating devices

Dry and Pre-action systems: Valves, sprinklers, detectors and air maintenance devices

Fire Pumps: Pump sizing and selection, piping, valving and control layout

Clean Agent systems: Distribution piping, nozzle layout, photoelectric and heat detectors, pull stations, strobes, horns and alarm interface
